Cranage is also home to several Avro Manchester aircraft.  These are stored here during a time when the Vulture engines are proving to be very unreliable.

During its time under USAF control Cranage is also home to a detachment of 7493 (IG) Special Investigations Wing and 7523 Support Squadron (USAF).

At some point the Ministry of Supply took over the site and stored the fuselage of an Avro Tudor here along with the very strange looking single engined, triple rotor Cierva Air Horse helicopter. These are finally removed in 1958.

The Hangars are removed in the late 1950's and many of the 'moveable' assets are auctioned off.  This was handled by Frank Marshall.
