The Battle of Middlewich takes centre stage at Middlewich in only four weeks-time!
The Programme of events is now out. We are busy distributing these around Middlewich and other townships. I have also placed a copy of the programme on our website at https://www.middlewich-heritage.org.uk
The programme has approx. timings to give you a guide, these may change slightly especially if the weather is not on our side. We do of course have plenty going on under cover as well. The entire event is free of charge and refreshments are available, so come along and spend your late May bank holiday with us!
This event would not be happening without the support of the community and especially volunteers, a big thank you to Allan Earl for all his help and research into the Civil War of Middlewich. A great deal of his time was spent on research, cross checking references and getting everything in order. The interpretation panels are now being printed and contain newly uncovered information to our civil war past.
The re-enactors of the Colonel Edward Montagu’s Regiment of Foote have put in a lot of time and effort to ensure that families have a great day out exploring life and warfare in the Civil War era. There are lots for adults and children to do over the two days.
Other valued help came from Jan Hutson and her typing skills, Cheshire Archives and Local Studies and Anna Bates, Collections Manager and Assistant Administrator for The Tabley House Collection, University of Manchester, for her help and additional information.
Permissions for showing the portrait paintings came from: University of Manchester, The Tabley House Collection, Grosvenor Museum, Chester and Manchester Art Gallery, UK/Bridgeman Images.
We are still looking for volunteers to help us steward the event, so if you want to help out, contact Kerry Fletcher in the first instance on: 01606 833434 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org
